blank password for HSQLDB or H2

The embedded mode for both HSQLDB and H2 set the username as "sa" and the password as blank. However, the JDBC connection pool form does not allow a blank password to be specified. Is it possible to configure a data source in this scenario, or must the password on the database be changed first?

Obviously, you would never use a database this way in production, but using HSQLDB and H2 for testing and development is extremely helpful. Unfortunately, at this point I am stuck trying to setup the resource because of the password snag.
