The source code for Solaris is based on OpenSolaris (http://
www.opensolaris.org), which uses the CDDL license. Consider Solaris
as Sun's distribution of OpenSolaris. All of these features are
available on X86, X64 and SPARC (and the code is in OpenSolaris).
Other distros have the same core feature set (Nexenta, Schillix,
Belenix come to mind).

Yep, I've been doing it for years. I've blogged extensively about
zones on
http://blogs.sun.com/jclingan. Much of that content came
from the use of zones on my x86 laptop and Sun X2100 Opteron server.
