Stateless Session Bean - extending a class?

Hi,

Is this permitted?

@Remote
public interface A {
   List<I> getItems()
}

public class B implements A {

  // do some setup stuff here

 List<I> getItems() {
   // implementation
 }

}

@Stateless
public class C extends B {

  int doSomeSpecificStuff() {
    // as it says
  }

}

.... then in webservice class (for example)....

 @EJB
 B myStatelessSessionBean;


 myStatelessSessionBean.getItems()

..
..
..

?
