I can confirm that the first issue you are seeing ("component sun-http-binding is not installed on target server") is due to a naming incompatibility between Glassfish b36 and the latest builds of NetBeans 5.5.1. This issue should be resolved in Glassfish b38.
Re: the packaging issue, I'm not sure what's going on there. I'll ask around and get back to you.
