I believe the issue has been resolved.
Recap:
1. I replaced Sun Application Server 9.0 with Glassfish 2
2. I added the ASQuickStartup flag that you had suggested
3. We haven't had a slow down yet - usually I would have expected one by around noon today
I don't know if Glassfish 2 resolved the issue or the flag, because I installed Glassfish 2 and added the flag at the same time. Either one could have been the fix. I'll update this thread if we do experience a slow down again.
