Hi,

I'm on this mailing list because I'm in the Java SE SQE team.

That move by Ubuntu was made possible by the DLJ project at
jdk-distros.dev.java.net .. The purpose of that project is to make it
easier for Linux and Open Solaris distros to redistribute the JDK/JRE.
The DLJ project isn't just for Ubuntu but any such distributor.
