The ^M is an end-of-line marker that you see when DOS files
are opened on UNIX systems. Is there an option in NetBeans to
convert files from DOS to UNIX format? When I'm in Windows, I
use UltraEdit or Notetab Pro, both of which have commands to
perform just this sort of conversion. More important, they
also let you maintain the UNIX format when you open or reopen
a UNIX file. Very handy. On Solaris and Linux, you can use
the dos2unix command to convert the files, but it's not as
handy as using an editor that doesn't force the conversion
or only uses DOS format in the first place.
