If you've downloaded the JDK documentation, in the following directory
is a quick description of annotations:
technotes/guides/language/annotations.html
It's a good introduction, but a lot is missing, esp. wrt to APT (there's
also an apt document, but it doesn't contain enough information to be
very helpful).
