Data is not getting deleted, It is getting appended.

Ater reading through the spec, I think I understand what the beanInterface
element is "about". If I hadn't, this page isn't very clear. It would be nice
if it the beanInterface entry made the distiction between what applies to EJB
3.0 and earlier EJB specification revision levels.
The page is currently technically correct but uninformative.
