Resolving a Fulfillment Line Exception by Substituting an Item


You are an order manager, and you need to resolve a fulfillment line exception.  One of your important customers, InFusion Corporation, has placed orders for which some fulfillment lines are past due.  In one case, a line specifies an item that is unavailable.

 

In this demonstration, you will learn how to resolve this type of exception by substituting another item.


Steps:

  1. In the Order Orchestration work area, you can view fulfillment line exceptions for each customer, item, warehouse, or order date. To resolve InFusion Corporation's exceptions, focus on customer.

     

    Click Customer from the View By list item.

  2. You can also view fulfillment line exceptions by count or by monetary value. In this case, focus on count.

     

    Click Line Count from the Data Value list item.

  3. Lines with exceptions may exist at a Past Due, In Jeopardy, Backordered, or On Hold state. You want to review fulfillment lines that are past due.  Select the InFusion Corporation row in the Customer Name column.

     

    Click the value in the Past Due column.

  4. Each fulfillment line includes a jeopardy score, which indicates how severe your organization considers a delay in a task. A higher score indicates a higher severity.

     

    Scroll to the Jeopardy Score column.

  5. You decide to resolve the most critical exceptions first, so you select the fulfillment line with the highest jeopardy score.

     

    Click in the row with the highest jeopardy score.

  6. Select the Expand icon to expand the Analytics region.

     

    Click the Expand Analytics button.

  7. Scroll down until the Analytics pane is in full view.

     

    Click the scrollbar.

  8. You want to check on the availability of Item AB2232.  Select an option from the list of values of the View menu in the Item Analytics region.

     

    Click the Item availability list item.

  9. The Item availability graph shows that the item AB2232 selected for this fulfillment line is unavailable in any warehouse.

     

    Click AB2232.

  10. All of the other items in the list are allowable substitutes for the original item.

  11. In the Item list of values, select an item that may serve as a substitute for the original item.

     

    Click AB2242.

  12. The Item availability graph shows that the substitute item is available.

    You decide to select the substitute item.

     

    Select item AB2242.

  13. Select Substitute Item from the Actions menu.

  14. Select a reason for the item substitution from the Substitution Reason list in the row for the substitute item.

     

    Click the Insufficient supply list item.
