Locking Out a Supplier

This demo shows how to lock a supplier to prevent that supplier from accessing a negotiation. You might wish to restrict a supplier's access if you feel the supplier contact is only monitoring the negotiation and not fully participating. For example, if the contact is attempting to obtain response information for competitive purposes.

Steps:

  1. Click the Monitor Supplier Activities object.

    Step 1
  2. In monitoring this negotiation, you have noticed that East Coast Consulting and Server Supply have both submitted responses.

Here you see the response for East Coast Consulting.

    Step 2
  3. Click the Midwest Hardware object.

    Step 3
  4. You can see that Midwest Hardware has not submitted any response even though you know the negotiation has been active for a considerable amount of time.

    Step 4
  5. Click the Server Supply object.

    Step 5
  6. Here you can see that Server Supply has submitted a quote on this RFQ.

    Step 6
  7. Click the Midwest Hardware object.

    Step 7
  8. Since you suspect that Midwest Hardware is only monitoring the negotiation for competitive advantage, you chose to lock them from further access.

    Step 8
  9. Click the Lock button.

    Step 9
  10. Click the Yes button.

    Step 10
  11. Click the OK button.

    Step 11
  12. You can see now that Midwest Hardware is locked from participation.

The next time a contact at Midwest Hardware attempts to take an action in the negotiation, an error message will appear stating that the negotiation is locked.

    Step 12
  13. If at some point in the future you wish to allow access to Midwest Hardware again, you simply click the icon to unlock their access.

    Step 13

This demo has shown how to restrict a supplier's access to an active negotiation.
