Monitoring a Negotiation


In this demo you will monitor an  auction while suppliers are placing bids, During this demo, you will pause and resume the auction, and lock out a supplier.


Steps:

  1. The negotiation is an auction for office furniture.

     

    You can see here that it is listed in the Ongoing Negotiations region of the Overview tab.

  2. While suppliers are placing bids, you will monitor the activity in the negotiation.

     

    Click the Monitor graphic.

  3. The graphs in the Monitor Negotiation page, show you the current supplier bids and your potential savings for each bid. The Suppliers table highlights the online status of the suppliers who were invited or who are participating in the negotiation, and the last activity that they performed.

  4. The Monitor Negotiation page refreshes automatically. You can specify the rate using the Refresh button.

     

    While you are monitoring the auction, a supplier alerts you that she's having some technical difficulties. You then decide to pause the auction to give her some time to fix the issues.

     

    Click the Pause button.

  5. When pausing the negotiation, you can enter a note that will be included in a notification sent to all suppliers. This allows you to explain the reason for the pause. When you are ready to pause the negotiation, you click the Submit button.

     

    Click the Submit button.

  6. After the supplier reports that the issues have been fixed, you resume the auction.

     

    Click the Resume button.

  7. After you resume the auction, the new close date will be calculated based on the Time Remaining in the negotiation.

     

    Click the Submit button.

  8. You have noticed that one supplier has remained online but has not entered any bids, and you suspect the supplier may be monitoring the bidding.

  9. You go to Monitor Supplier Activities to find out more about Allied Manufacturing.

     

    Click the Monitor Supplier Activities menu.

  10. Since Allied Manufacturing appears to be only monitoring the auction for competitive information, you decide to lock that supplier out of the negotiation.

     

    Click the Lock graphic.

  11. When you lock out a supplier, that supplier cannot access the negotiation anymore. Note that you can reinstate the supplier at a later time.

     

    Click the Yes button.

  12. You can now go back to the Monitor Negotiation page.

     

    Click the Done button.

  13. You can see the icon next to Allied Manufacturing indicating that the supplier was locked out.
