Why You Select the Customer Object to Import Sales Accounts

Steps:

  1. Hello, my name is John and today I will talk about importing sales account information from a file.

    Step 1
  2. In this demo, I will explain why you select the Customer import object when you import sales accounts.

    Step 2
  3. This is the second in a series of demos that show how to use a sample template to import sales accounts from a file.

    Step 3
  4. When you create an import activity you must select the object you are importing. We are importing sales accounts, so why do we select Customer as the object?

    Step 4
  5. Let's look at a customer record in the Customer Center so that you understand how Oracle Sales applications define the terms customer and sales account.

    Step 5
  6. Customers in the Oracle Sales Cloud Service can be either sales accounts or sales prospects.

    Step 6
  7. This customer is a sales account because it has an address with a sell-to purpose. A customer remains a prospect until it has a sell-to address.

    Step 7
  8. The application creates a sales account profile record and selects this sales account check box when you specify the sell-to address. You can't set these check boxes manually.

    Step 8
  9. In contrast to the Customer cener, the simplified UI displays sales accounts exclusively.

If you create a customer in the simplified UI, you are always creating a sales account.

Importing sales accounts using this sample template imports customers who are businesses. If you want to import consumers, you must import your data using the Consumer import object instead.

    Step 9
  10. In this demo, you learned why you must select the customer import object when you are importing sales accounts.
