Testing the UI for a Child Object

Steps:

  1. Hello, my name is John, and today we are discussing extending  applications using Application Composer.

    Step 1
  2. In this demo, we will test the UI of a child object in Application Composer.

    Step 2
  3. This is the last in a series of related demos that show how to create a child object, add fields to it, and display it in the UI of a parent object.

    Step 3
  4. You can test your child object in the sandbox where you created it to make sure it works before you roll it out.

    Step 4
  5. We begin by navigating to the parent object work area, Trouble Tickets in our example.

    Click the Navigator link.

    Step 5
  6. Click the Trouble Tickets link.

    Step 6
  7. Now let's view a trouble ticket.

    Step 7

  8. Click the Abstract link.

    Step 8
  9. Activities appear on a subtab in the Edit Trouble Ticket  page. Here you can create, edit, and delete activity records.

Because Activity is a child object of Trouble Ticket, this is the only place in the runtime application where activities appear.

And remember that because Activity is a child object, an activity you create doesn't get saved until you save the trouble ticket.

    Step 9

  10. Now let's create an activity.

    Click the Add Row button.

    Step 10
  11. We enter the name.

Enter the desired information into the Activity Name field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Reviewed options with customer"
    .

    Step 11
  12. Press [Tab].

    Step 12
  13. And a description.

Enter the desired information into the Description field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Recommended fire extinguisher"
    .

    Step 13
  14. Let's add another.

    Click the Add Row button.

    Step 14
  15. Enter the desired information into the Activity Name field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.

     a valid value
     e.g.
"Possibly the fire department could help"
    .

    Step 16
  17. We are done. Remember that the activities we created aren't saved until we save the Trouble Ticket.

Click the Save and Close button.

    Step 17
