Testing the User Interface for a Custom Object

Steps:

  1. Hello, my name is John, and today we are discussing extending  applications using Application Composer.

    Step 1
  2. In this demo, I will test the UI we created for a custom object.

    Step 2
  3. This is the last in a series of related demos that show how to create a custom object, add fields to it, and create the user interface.

In this series, we create a  simple trouble ticket application that the sales organization can use to log customer issues.

    Step 3
  4. To test the UI we created, we'll navigate to the Trouble Ticket work area.

    Step 4

  5. There is no need to leave the sandbox. We can do all our testing here before publishing our changes. The only thing we need to think about is not to add too many records  because they don't stay in the sandbox.

    Step 5
  6. Click the Navigator link.

    Step 6
  7. Click the Trouble Tickets link.

    Step 7
  8. Here we are. Let's see what the regional search looks like.

    Click the Search list.

    Step 8
  9. Click the Trouble Ticket list item.

    Step 9
  10. The search does include the three fields we selected. Let's go on and create a ticket.

    Step 10

  11. Click the Create button.

    Step 11
  12. We'll summarize the issue in the Abstract.

Enter the desired information into the Abstract field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Laptop doesn't work"
    .

    Step 12
  13. We'll select the company logging the ticket.

    Click the Company list.

    Step 13
  14. Click the APEX Communications list item.

    Step 14
  15. And we describe the problem they are having.

Enter the desired information into the Description field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
"Smoke is coming out the back."
    .

    Step 15
  16. Clearly a hardware issue.

    Click the Type list.

    Step 16
  17. Click the Hardware list item.

    Step 17
  18. We're done so let's save.

Click the Save and Close button.

    Step 18
  19. Now let's edit the ticket.

    Step 19

  20. Click the Abstract link.

    Step 20
  21. Click the Expand Show Details button.

    Step 21
  22. Notice the Details section. That's where we would see any child objects and other related information. Since we haven't created any subtabs in Application Composer this section is blank

    Step 22

  23. Let's see if we can add an attachment.

    Click the Manage Attachments button.

    Step 23
  24. Click the Cancel button.

    Step 25
  26. Click the Expand Search button.

    Step 26
  27. That's the basic search. Let's see advanced.

    Click the Advanced button.

    Step 27
  28. In the advanced search,  users can change the default search operators we set up for each field.

    Step 28

  29. In this demo you learned how to test the UI of a custom object in Application Composer.

You can find additional learning resources in your Oracle Fusion Help application, as well as in the Oracle Learning Library, and at Oracle University. Thank you.
