Adding a Standard Field to Capture Personal Profile Information for Customers and Contacts

Steps:

1. Hello, my name is John, and today we are discussing customizing the consumer and contact pages in the Simplified UI using Application Composer.

2. In this demo, I will show you how to add a field which captures additional personal information for consumers and contacts. The field we are adding to the UI is the  Date of Birth field. It's a standard field that's delivered with your application, but not displayed in the UI by default.

3. This is the first of two demos that  show how to customize personal  information on the consumer or a contact pages. What do I mean by personal information?

   Step 3

4. I mean the information displayed in the person profile region at the top of the Create Consumer.

5. The Edit Consumer.

6. The Create Contact.

   Step 6

7. And the Edit Contact pages.

   Step 7

8. To customize  personal profile information about consumers and contacts in Application Composer, we select the Common application.

9. Click the Expand button.

   Step 9

10. And edit the Trading Community Person Profile object.

    Step 10

11. Click the button of the scrollbar.

12. We want to capture an individual's birth date. Let's see if this field already exists among the standard fields supplied with the application.

13. Click the Fields link.

14. All the fields that come with the application are listed on the Standard tab. Let's see if  birth date is one of them. We don't want to create a custom field unless it's really necessary.

     

    Click the Standard tab.

15. Here it is. Now we just add it to the UI.

16. We do that by selecting the Pages link.

18. Let's add the field to the Create Consumer page first.

     

    Click the Edit Consumer Creation Page link.

20. We can double-click to select the field.

     

    Double-click the Date of Birth list item.

21. We're done.

    Click the Save and Close button.

22. Now let's add the field to the Create Contact page.

     

    Click the Edit Contact Creation Page link.

26. I won't bother showing you how to add the field to the Edit Consumer and Edit Contact pages. The  process is exactly the same.
