Creating an E-Mail Template



Steps:

  1. Hello, my name is John, and today we are discussing customizing  applications using Application Composer.

  2. In this demo, I will show you how to create an e-mail template for sending e-mail notifications from a workflow.

  3. This is the fourth in a series of demos that shows you how to create a workflow to update fields, create tasks, and send e-mails.

  4. Before we create the e-mail template, we make sure we have the correct application selected.

  5. Note that although we have a sandbox session active, e-mail templates are not created in the sandbox. They are available in the application as soon as you create them.

  6. Let's get started by selecting the E-Mail Templates link.

    Click the E-Mail Templates link.

  7. Let's create the template.

    Click the Create button.

  8. We are creating the template to remind the opportunity sales team to contact the customer, so we select Opportunity as the object.

     

    Click the Object list.

  9. Click the Opportunity list item.

  10. We enter a name that will help us identify the template in the workflow

     

    Enter the desired information into the Name field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Budget Available Date Update"
    .

  11. Let's enter the e-mail subject. We will insert a variable for the customer name.

     

    Click in the E-Mail Subject field.

  12. Enter the desired information into the E-Mail Subject field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Opportunity customer budget available date has changed"

  13. Let's insert the opportunity name.

     

    Click in the E-Mail Subject field.

  14. Click the button to the right of the Select field.

  15. I can press the "o" key on my keyboard to speed up the search.

     

    Press [O].

  19. Now let's enter the e-mail message body.

    Click in the E-Mail Body field.

    Press [Ctrl+V].
