Updating Fields Using a Workflow

Steps:

1. Hello, my name is John, and today we are discussing customizing  applications using Application Composer.

   Step 1

2. In this demo, I will show you how to set up the workflow to update fields in an opportunity.

   We will update three fields: we will set the Close Date of the opportunity  to be a week after the budget becomes available; we  lower the level of risk by one;

   and we will set the strategic value to Medium.

   Step 2

3. This is the second in a series of demos that shows you how to create a workflow to update fields, create tasks, and send e-mails.

   Step 3

4. To update fields, we click the Create button in the Field Updates region.

    

   Click the Create button.

   Step 4

5. We are updating the Close Date field.

   Click in the Name field.

   Step 5

6. Enter the desired information into the Name field. Enter

    a valid value
    e.g.
    "Update Close Date"
   .
   Step 6

7. Click the Expand Execution Schedule button.

   Step 7

8. We want the field to be updated immediately after the budget date is revised, so we leave the execution schedule as is.

   Step 8

9. Let's select the field we are updating.

    

   Click the Field to Update list.

   Step 9

10. Click the Close Date list item.

    Step 10

11. We are updating the Close Date based on the Date Budget Available field.

     

    Click the Value list.

    Step 11

12. Click the Date Budget Available list item.

    Step 12

13. Plus seven days.

    Enter the desired information into the Value field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "7"
    .

14. Now let's lower the level of risk.

    Click the Update More Fields link.

    Step 14

15. Click the button to the right of the Field to Update field.

    Step 15

16. Click the Level of Risk list item.

    Step 16

17. We want to decrease the risk level by one, so we select the Populate with Next Value in List option.

     

    Click the Populate with next value in list option.

18. Now let's set the strategic value for opportunities to Medium.

     

    Click the Update More Fields link.

    Step 18

19. Click the button to the right of the Field to Update field.

    Step 19

20. Click the Strategic Value list item.

    Step 20

21. Click the Value list.

    Step 21

22. Click the Medium list item.

    Step 22

23. Let's save our work.

     

    Click the Save button.

24. We must save again to update our workflow.

     

    Click the Save button.
