Hello, my name is John, and today we are discussing customizing the Customer pages in the Simplified UI using Application Composer.
Step 1In this demo, I will show you how to create a custom number field to capture additional information about the customer's organization. In this example, we are creating a field to store the legacy Siebel Account Number.
Step 2This is the first in a series of related demos that show you how to create a custom field on the organization profile object and then use a join to display the field in the UI of a related object, in this case the list of sales accounts on the Customers page.
Step 3We are creating a custom field to capture additional information about the customer's organization, so we navigate to the Trading Community Organization Profile object. That's a standard object under the Common application.
Click the Expand button.
Step 4Click the Expand button.
Step 5Click the button of the scrollbar.
Step 6To create the field, we select the Fields link.
Click the Fields link.
Step 7And click the Create button.
Click the Create a custom field button.
Step 8We are capturing a number, so we select the Number field type.
Click the Number option.
Step 9Click the OK button.
Step 10We enter the field name users see in the Display Label field.
Enter the desired information into the Display Label field. Enter
Clicking in the Name field defaults the internal name based on what we entered.
Click in the Name field.
Step 12This name, which is not seen by users, must be unique for this object. No spaces are permitted. We are OK with the default name and with the default constraints below.
Step 13Our account number is never more than 10 characters long.
Step 14We save and we are done.
Click the Save and Close button.
Step 15Our field is now listed on the Fields page. In the next demo, we'll display the field in the create and edit customer pages.
