This demonstration shows how to create a clause in the Contract Terms Library.
Steps:
You will create a jurisdiction clause that requires contract authors to fill in the state and county of jurisdiction in each contract.
Step 1Navigate to the Terms Library work area.
Click the Create Clause link.
Step 2Select the business unit where you want to create the clause.
Click the button to the right of the Business Unit field.
Step 3Click the Vision Operations list item.
Step 4Enter a clause number if the application does not generate one automatically. This ID number must be unique for each clause.
Enter the desired information into the Number field. Enter "1345".
Step 5Enter a title. The title must be unique in the business unit and you cannot edit it after you first save the clause.
The text you enter here is always visible when you search for the clause in the Contract Terms Library. It appears in printed contracts only when you do not enter a display title.

Enter a display title if you want to display a different title during contract authoring and in the printed contract. You can edit the display title any time you can edit the clause itself.

Select the intent to specify what what class of contracts will use this clause.
Click the button to the right of the Intent field.
Step 8Click the Sell list item.
Step 9Select a clause type to make it easier to find the clause in the library.
Click the button to the right of the Type field.
Step 10Click the Governing laws and jurisdiction list item.
Step 11You will now use the built-in rich-text editor to enter the clause text. You will insert variables to represent the state and county of jurisdiction.
Step 12Click in the Text field and enter the first portion of the clause text.

Now select the variable representing the state.
Click the Insert Variables button.
Step 14Enter a search term to search for the variable. You can use the percent sign as a wild card.

Click the Done button.
Step 18You entered the first variable. Now enter the rest of the clause text and variables in a similar fashion.
Step 19When you are done, you can enter other clause details.

Step 22Here you can enter optional instructions for contract authors. No instructions are required, so we are ready to create the clause.
Step 23To create the clause you can either save.
Step 24Or you can simply click on one of the grayed-out tabs. Both actions do the same thing.
Step 25For this clause you want to provide contract authors with alternate jurisdiction clauses they can select instead of this one.
Click the Related Clauses tab.
Step 26Notice that the application created the clause. The Business Unit, Number, Title, and Intent fields are no longer editable.
Step 27Back on the Related Clauses tab, add a clause that authors can select as an alternate.
Click the Add Row button.

Step 35You are ready to submit the clause for approval by the library administrator.
Click the Submit button.
Step 36The application validates your entries. If there are no errors, your clause is submitted for approval and set to the Pending Approval status which does not permit any further editing.
