This demonstration shows how to substitute alternate clauses in your contract and how to identify clauses where alternates are available.
Steps:
Begin by navigating to the Contract Terms tab.
Step 1You can identify a clause with alternates by the double-sided arrow on its icon.
Step 2Select the clause to view the alternates.
Click the Jurisdiction list item.
Step 3Click the Actions dropdown button to activate the menu.
Step 4Click the Select Alternate Clause list item.
Step 5The application displays the available alternate clauses in the Select Alternate Clause window.
Step 6The current clause in the contract is highlighted with a check mark.
Step 7There are two alternate clauses available for selection.
Step 8Let's examine the first alternate clause.
Step 9Select the clause.
Click the Jurisdiction cell.
Step 10Now view the text of the clause.
Click the Clause Details button.
Step 11The application displays the text of the alternate.
Step 12Click the Done button.
Step 13You can compare the text of this alternate with the existing clause text.
Step 14Click the Compare Clause Text button.
Step 15The application displays the comparison of the two clauses in the Compare Clause Text window.
Step 16The alternate clause you are substituting specifies California as the state of jurisdiction.
Step 17The current clause includes variables that require you to enter the state. Variables are indicated by square brackets and at (@) signs.
Step 18You can view the text of the current and new clause separately by expanding each of the regions.
Step 19Expand the text of the current clause.
Click the Expand Current Clause button.
Step 20Now view the text of the alternate clause.
Click the Expand Alternate Clause button.
Step 21Click the Done button.
Step 22Substitute the selected alternate clause.
Click the OK button.
Step 23You must refresh to see the change.
Click the Refresh button.
Step 24The preview now displays the alternate clause.
Step 25This completes the demonstration of alternate clauses.
