This demonstration shows how you create nonstandard clauses in a contract either by editing a standard clause or by creating a nonstandard clause from scratch.
Steps:
Begin by navigating to the Contract Terms tab in the contract.
Step 1Suppose you are selling software services and you agree to reduce the potential increase in support fees from six percent to four percent a year.
You must first locate the technical support clause you need to edit.
Step 2Expand the outline on the Clauses tab to view the clause titles.
Click the View menu bar.
Step 3Click the Expand All list item.
Step 4This looks like the clause you need to edit.
Click the Technical Support list item.
Step 5Here is the fee the customer wants changed.
Step 6Click the Edit Clause button.
Step 7The application displays the clause in the Edit Clause page.
Step 8Scroll down to find the mention of the six percent increase.
Click the scrollbar.
Step 9Now replace the 6 with a 4.
Double-click on the number 6 to select it.
Step 10Enter a 4.
Step 11Click the OK button.
Step 12The application warns you that you are about to make the clause nonstandard.
Click the Yes button.
Step 13Notice that the icon of the clause changed to indicate this is now a nonstandard clause.
Step 14The customer also asked you to insert a clause that guarantees the software you are selling is free of viruses.
Step 15You could use the Add Clause button and search for such a clause in the Contract Terms Library, but you already know that no such clause exists.
Step 16You must create a nonstandard clause from scratch for this contract.
Step 17Select the clause in the outline where you want to insert the new nonstandard clause.
Click the Ownership and Restrictions list item.
Step 18Now create the clause.
Click the Actions menu bar.
Step 19Click the Create Nonstandard Clause list item.
Step 20The application displays the Create Nonstandard Clause window.
Step 21Enter the clause title.
Click in the Title field.
Step 22Enter the desired information into the Title field. Enter
Classify the clause by selecting a clause type.
Click the Type list.
Step 24Click the General terms list item.
Step 25You could import the clause text from a Word 2007 document by using the Import button.
Step 26But for most clauses you can just enter the clause text using the built-in Rich-Text Editor.
Step 27In the Text field, enter the clause text.

Step 29Refresh the preview so it reflects your latest edits.
Click the Refresh button.
Step 30Notice that the application inserted the nonstandard clause with its characteristic icon.
Step 31The contract terms now include two nonstandard clauses.
