In this demonstration you will learn how to create a clause while editing a contract terms template. The draft clause you create is submitted along with the template for approval. Once approved, both the template and the clause are available for use in the Contract Terms Library.
Steps:
Navigate to the Clauses tab in the contract terms template.
Step 1Click the Add Clause button.
Step 2To ensure you do not create a duplicate of an existing clause, you should search the library for similar clauses before creating a new one.
Step 3Because the library does not contain the clause you need, you will create one.
Click the Create Clause button.
Step 4If the application does not automatically generate the clause number for you, you must enter an alphanumeric ID that is unique within the business unit.
Click in the Number field.

You cannot edit the clause number or the title after you first save the clause.
Step 8If you want the contract terms to show a title that is different from what you just entered, you can enter it in the Display Title field. You can edit the display title any time you can edit the clause itself.
Step 9You must classify the clause for the Contract Terms Library.
Step 10Click the Type list.
Step 11Point to the Toolbar button of the scrollbar.
Step 12Click the General terms list item.
Step 13You can import the clause text from a Word file. If you do, you must continue to use
Word to edit the clause in the future.
Step 14Or you can use the available rich-text editor.
Step 15For this clause, the rich-text editor is more than adequate for the job.

If required by the clause, you can insert variables to represent information that varies from contract to contract.
Step 17You are ready to create the clause in the Contract Terms Library.
If you need to add additional details not available here, such as information about alternate and incompatible clauses, you can do so later by editing the clause.
Step 18Click the OK button.
Step 19You must expand the folders to view the clause you added.
Step 20Click the Expand link.
Step 21And refresh the preview to see the latest edits.

Step 23When you submit the contract terms template for approval, any clauses you created will be submitted for approval as well.
Step 24After you have added all the terms and conditions to the template, you are ready to submit it for approval.
Click the Submit button.
Step 25For your review, the application displays all the draft clauses you created or added to the template.
Step 26Click the Next button.
Step 27Validation is triggered automatically. If the template passes without errors, you can click Submit again.
Step 28Click the Submit button.
Step 29The template and draft clauses are now pending approval. They become active and available for use in contracts after they are approved.
