Creating Zone Types and Zones for Shipping and Tax

You are an Applications Administrator who wants to create zone types and zones for the Manage Shipping Zones and Manage Tax Zone Types tasks. On this occasion you create a zone type for shipment zones, and then create a shipment zone for the West Coast of the United States. You start at the Manage Zone Types page.

Steps:

1. You create a new shipment zone type.

    

   Click the Create button.

   Step 1

2. You enter a name for the zone type.

    

   Enter the desired information into the Zone Type field. Enter

    a valid value
    e.g.
    "Shipment Zones"
   .
   Step 2

3. You can choose to allow the zone type to span across countries, but you decide to limit the zone type to geographies within the United States.

    

   Click the Bounded by country option.

4. You search for the United States geography.

    

   Click the Search link.

   Step 4

5. Click the Search link.

   Step 5

6. Enter the desired information into the Name field. Enter

    a valid value
    e.g.
    "united states"
   .

7. Click the Search button.

   Step 7

8. You select the United States geography.

    

   Click the United States object.

   Step 8

9. Click the OK button.

10. You allow zones to be created for State geographies.

     

    Click the Zone Creation Allowed option.

11. You decide to allow zone creation for all geography types in the United States. This will allow you to add any geography types and geographies to your zones.

12. Now you want to create a zone for the Shipment Zones zone type, so you return to the Manage Zone Types page.

     

    Click the Save and Close button.

13. You open the Manage Zones for Zone Type page, to begin creating a zone.

     

    Click the Next button.

15. You decide to create a shipment zone for the West Coast of the United States.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Zone field. Enter

     "West Coast"

16. You choose to make the zone effective from January 1, 2011, so that the zone will immediately appear in the application.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Start Date field. Enter

     a valid value

17. Create a unique name for the zone.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Code field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "WEST_COAST"

18. You choose to make the zone inactive from January 1, 2019.

     

    Enter the desired information into the End Date field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "1/1/19"

19. You want to add the state of California to the West Coast shipment zone.

     

    Click the Add button.

20. You find the existing geography for California.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Geography Type field. Enter

     "State"

24. You decide to add more geographies to the West Coast zone at a later date.

     

    Click the Save and Close button.

25. You also decide to add more zones to the Shipping Zones zone type at a later date.

     

    Click the Done button.
