Understanding Nonstandard Clauses


This demonstration discusses the differences between the two kinds of nonstandard clauses: a nonstandard clause you create by editing a standard clause and a nonstandard clause that you create from scratch.


Steps:

  1. Navigate to the contract terms in the contract.

  3. In the contract terms they are distinguished by a special icon.

  4. Let's examine both of these clauses.

  5. Select the first nonstandard clause.

     

    Click the Technical Support list item.

  6. You cannot see what makes this clause nonstandard in the preview, but you can in the Edit Clause window.

  9. This particular nonstandard clause was created by editing a standard clause.

     

    You can tell because it includes the Compare with Standard and Revert to Standard buttons.

  10. If you want to revert the clause to the original standard clause, you can do so using the Revert to Standard button.

  11. To see what was changed, compare the current clause text with the original.

     

    Click the Compare with Standard button.

  13. You can view any edits to the standard clause in the Comparison Results region.
