This demonstration shows how to recognize clause variables that are missing values and how to enter those values in.
Steps:
Begin by navigating to the Contract Terms tab in a contract.
Step 1The Pending Variables indicator shows the number of variables that are missing values. This contract has two.
Step 2Variables that are missing values show up as underlines in clauses.
Step 3You can enter the missing variable values in one of two ways.
Step 4By running Contract Expert as discussed in a related demonstration.
Step 5Or by using the Edit Variable Values window.
Step 6
Both ways of entering missing values are equivalent. But Contract Expert may not be available in all contracts.
Step 7Use the Edit Variable Values window to enter the values.
Click the Edit Variable Values button.
Step 8The application displays the Edit Variable Values window.
Step 9You can view the list of all variables and their values or select just the variables that are missing values.
Step 10Click the View list.
Step 11Click the Pending variables list item.
Step 12The first variable requires the state of jurisdiction.
Step 13You can view the text of the clause where this variable is being used, but that's not required in this case.
Step 14Enter California for the state of jurisdiction.
Enter the desired information into the Value field. Enter
The second variable requires you to enter the county.
Step 16Click in the Value field.
Step 17Enter San Francisco for the county.
Enter the desired information into the Value field. Enter
Click the OK button.
Step 19Notice that the Pending Variable count is now zero.
Step 20Entering all the pending variables values does not mean that all of the variables in your contract have values.
That's because some variables get their values from the entries you make in the contract itself.
Step 21For example, the variables representing the contract start and end dates in this Term of Agreement clause get their values from the entries you make when you edit the contract itself.
Any missing entries in contract fields are not part of the pending variable count.
Step 22Refresh the preview to see the effect of your changes.
Click the Refresh button.
Step 23Notice that the Jurisdiction clause now includes the two values you entered.
Step 24This concludes the demonstration showing how to recognize clause variables that are missing values and how to enter those values in.
