Viewing the Custom Field in the Import Activity Mapping


In this demonstration, we'll check that the Next Step custom text field we created for an opportunity is available for import.  To do this we'll create an import activity and look for the field in the mapping page.

 

This is the final in a series of demonstrations that show how to create a custom field for importing customer information.

 

These demonstrations cover:

- Exposing the custom field in application pages

Steps:

  1. Let's navigate to the Manage Import Activities page.

  2. Click the Navigator link.

  3. Click the File Import link.

  4. Now let's create the  import activity.

  5. Click the Create button.

  6. Let's enter a name for the import activity.

  7. Enter the desired information into the Name field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Opportunity import"
    .

  8. Now let's upload a sample file from the desktop that contains data for the extra field.

  9. Click the Desktop option.

  10. Click the Browse… button.

  12. Our file includes a header row, so we need to select the Header Row Included option.

  14. One more thing. We must select Opportunity as the import object.

  16. Press the left mouse button and drag the mouse to the desired location.

  19. The mapping page shows us the columns of our import file,  let's scroll to the end where we put the custom attribute.

  22. Here's the attribute in the file. Let's see if we can map it.

  23. Select Opportunity as the target object.

  30. Here's our Next Step attribute. Notice that the name includes an underscore and letter c at the end. Application Composer adds this to all custom field names.
