Category Security Release Phase Resolved 6853405 Product OpenSolaris Date of Resolved Release 04-Aug-2009 Multiple Security Vulnerabilities in Firefox Versions Prior to 3.5 May Allow Execution of Arbitrary Code or Access to Unauthorized Data 1. Impact Multiple security vulnerabilities with varying impacts affect Firefox (see firefox(1)) versions prior to 3.5 as shipped with OpenSolaris. These vulnerabilities may allow an unprivileged remote user to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) crash to the Firefox application or possibly execute arbitrary code on the system where Firefox is being run. Futher vulnerabilities may allow a remote user to perform Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) exploits and to gain unauthorized access to cookie data stored in the application, which could allow reading or modifying of data from other web sites or to obtain sensitive data stored in those cookies. Symptoms There are no predictable symptoms that would indicate the described issues have occurred. 4. Workaround The issues described in MFSA-2009-37, MFSA-2009-40, and some of the issues in MFSA-2009-24 and MFSA2009-34 can be worked around by disabling JavaScript (until a version of these fixes can be installed) by doing the following: 1. Open the "Preferences" dialog from the Edit menu
2. Select the "Content" tab 3. Uncheck the "Enable JavaScript" check box 5. Resolution These issues are addressed in the following releases: SPARC Platform
