A Security Vulnerability in the Logical Domains (LDoms) Manager May Allow Unauthorized System Access and Escalation of Privileges
1. Impact
A security vulnerability in the Logical Domains (LDoms) Manager (ldm(1M)) may allow a
local unprivileged user to circumvent SPARC Firmware password protection and thus gain unauthorized access to data or gain
elevated privileges on the system.
2. Contributing Factors
SPARC Platform:
- Logical Domain Manager 1.0 without patch 139395-02
- Logical Domain Manager 1.0.1 without patch 139396-02
- Logical Domain Manager 1.0.2 without patch 139397-02
- Logical Domain Manager 1.0.3 without patch 139398-01
Note: The x86 Platform is not
affected by this issue, as Logical Domains (LDoms) software is
supported only on the Sun SPARC Platform.
To determine the version of the Logical Domains (LDoms) Manager installed on the system, the
ldm(1M) command may be used:
$ /opt/SUNWldm/bin/ldm -V

3. Symptoms
There are no predictable symptoms to indicate this issue has been
exploited to gain unauthorized access to data or elevated privileges.

There is no workaround for this issue. Please see the Resolution
section below.

or later
- Logical Domain Manager 1.0.1 with patch 139396-02
