1. Impact
A security vulnerability in the search feature of the Sun Java
System LDAP JDK may allow local unprivileged users to gain access to
unauthorized information from applications that use the LDAP JDK
library.
Sun Java System Access Manager uses the LDAP JDK library and is vulnerable to this issue.
2. Contributing Factors
This issue can occur in the following releases:

- Sun Java System LDAP JDK 4.19 or earlier for Sun Java System Access Manager 7 2005Q4 (for RHEL2.1) without patch 120834-03
- Sun Java System LDAP JDK 4.19 or earlier for Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1 (for RHEL2.1) without patch 120834-03
HP-UX Platform
- Sun Java System LDAP JDK 4.19 or earlier without patch 138905-01
Windows Platform
- Sun Java System LDAP JDK 4.19 or earlier without patch 138905-01
Note 1: Windows is not a supported platform for Sun Java System Access Manager 6 2005Q1.
Note 2: There are no supported versions of the Sun Java System Access Manager for the HP-UX Platform.
Note 3: All supported versions of the Sun Java System LDAP JDK
prior to version 4.20 are affected by this issue. The LDAP JDK
component is used by Sun Java Access Manager to communicate with Sun
Java System Directory Server.
To determine the version of LDAP JDK on a Solaris system, the
following command can be run:
% pkgparam SUNWljdk SUNW_PRODVERS
4.21
To determine the version of LDAP JDK on a Linux system, the following
command can be run:
% rpm -q -a | grep "sun-ljdk"
sun-ljdk-4.21-1
To
determine the version of Sun
Java System Access Manager on a Solaris system, the
following command can be run:
% pkginfo -l SUNWamsvc
PKGINST: SUNWamsvc
To determine the version of Sun
Java System Access Manager on the Linux platform, the following command can
be run:
# <access-manager-install-dir>/bin/amadmin --version
Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1
To determine the version of Sun Java System Access Manager on the Windows Platform, the following command can be run
% <access-manager-install-dir>\bin\amadmin --version
Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1
(where <access-manager-install-dir> is the installation directory of the application).
