Cross-site Scripting (XSS) Vulnerability in the Sun Java System Access Manager Administration Console

1. Impact

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in parsing the "Help" and "Version" Windows of the Sun Java System Access Manager Administration Console may allow local and remote unprivileged users to access unauthorized data.

This issue may allow an unprivileged remote user to inject arbitrary URLs into affected web pages, thereby allowing access to the login credentials of the administrator and other users of the Access Manager application.

Sun acknowledges with thanks, Steven Adair of NASA for discovering and reporting this issue.

2. Contributing Factors

This issue can occur in the following releases:

SPARC Platform:

  • Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1 (for Solaris 8, 9 and 10) without patch 126356-01

Notes:

  1. Sun Java System Access Manager 6.3, 6.2 and 6.1 are not affected by this issue.
  2. This issue is not referenced in the patch READMEs as it has been fixed in the Sun Java Web Console module which is shipped with the Sun Java System Access Manager.

NAME: Sun Java System Access Manager Services
    CATEGORY: application
    ARCH: all
    VERSION: 7.0,REV=05.08.10.09.17
