Creating Users

The user name you use to create a connection must have adequate privilege to create a user, either by having been granted CREATE USER privilege or having been granted a role such as administrator that contains that privilege. If you did not create the connection with a user with the correct privileges, you will not be able to select User from the New Gallery.

To create a user:

  1. Select Viewthen choose Connection Navigator.
  2. Expand Database and select a database connection.
  3. Right-click the connection or anything in it, and choose New to open the New Gallery.
  4. In the New Gallery, if the Database Tier is not visible in Categories, in Filter By, choose All Technologies.
  5. In Categories, expand Database Tier and select Database Objects.
  6. From Database Objects, select User and click OK to open the Create User dialog.
  7. In the dialog enter parameters and select options to define the user.

For information about how to fill in values for the the wizard parameters and options, click Help in the dialog, or see the CREATE USER section of the Oracle Database SQL Reference at http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/database10g.html.
