Creating Online Views

The user name you use to create a connection must have adequate privilege to create a view, either by having been granted CREATE VIEW privilege or having been granted a role such as administrator that contains the privilege. If you did not create the connection with a user with the correct privileges, you will not be able to select View from the New Gallery.

To create a view:

  1. Select Viewthen choose Connection Navigator.
  2. Expand Database and select a database connection.
  3. Right-click the connection or anything in it, and choose New to open the New Gallery.
  4. In the New Gallery, if the Database Tier is not visible in Categories, in Filter By, choose All Technologies.
  5. In Categories, expand Database Tier and select Database Objects.
  6. From Database Objects, select View and click OK to open the Create View wizard.
  7. In the pages of the wizard enter parameters and select options to define the view.

For information about how to supply values for the parameters and options in this dialog, click Help, or see the CREATE VIEW section of the Oracle Database SQL Reference at http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/database10g.html.
