Creating a Connection to Oracle Application Server

Deploy applications directly to Oracle Application Server 10g and Oracle9i Application Server (version 9.0.3 or later) instances via JDeveloper application server connections. You can also deploy to Creating a Connection to Oracle9i Application Server.

To create a connection to an Oracle Application Server instance:

  1. In the Connections Navigator, select Applications Server.

  2. Right-click and choose New Applications Server Connection.

The Create Application Server Connection wizard opens. For instructions for any page click Help .

    Proceed to the Type page.

  3. On the Type page provide a name for the connection. In the Connection Type list box, choose Oracle9i Application Server or Oracle Application Server 10 g.

  4. On the Authentication page enter a user name and password that corresponds to the Oracle Application Server admin user.

Note: If you are deploying a JClient application with remote business services to Oracle Application Server, do not select Deploy Password. However, your application must provide login credentials to the application server to avoid receiving an authentication failed error. You can generate a JClient login dialog in your JClient application by selecting Create Login Dialog in the JClient Form Wizard. Alternatively, when you do not want to provide a login dialog for your production environment, edit jndi.properties to provide server credentials. For more information, see Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE Stand Alone User's Guide.

  5. On the Connection page, identify the server instance and configure the connection.

  6. On the EJB Client Connection page, provide the RMI server URL and user name and password.

  7. (Optional) On the Test page test the connection.

  8. Click Finish.
