Installing the ADF Runtime Libraries on a Server

The ADF runtime libraries must be installed on servers that run deployed applications that use Business Components classes. Use the ADF Runtime Installer wizard to install the runtime libraries on selected servers. The supported servers are listed in the T ools | ADF Runtime Installer submenu.

For other servers, the required libraries must be installed manually.

Runtime library installation is not necessary for applications on the embedded OC4J server.

Servers may have multiple installed copies of the ADF runtime libraries, but at any time only one copy is active — accessible to deployed applications — and the rest are archived.

To install the runtime libraries:

  1. Shutdown all instances of all application server running on the target platform.

  2. Invoke the ADF Runtime Installer wizard. Choose Tools | ADF Runtime Installer, and choose a server type from the submenu.

Proceed through the pages of the wizard. For detailed instructions for any page of the wizard, click Help .

  3. On the Location page, select the home (or root) directory of the server on which the libraries are to be installed.

  4. On the Domain Directory page (WebLogic only), select the home directory specific WebLogic domain on which the libraries are to be installed.

  5. On the Installation Options page, you may choose the operation that you wish to perform.

  6. On the Summary page, if installing to a server other than Oracle Application Server or OC4J, click Migrate if you wish to prepare any existing UIX JSP projects for deployment.

  7. On the Summary page, confirm the details of the installation, and click Finish.

  8. Restart the application server.
