Importing Offline Database Definitions Using Drag and Drop

You can drag tables from a database schema onto a database diagram, where they become accessible as offline database tables.

Another way of working with existing tables as offline tables is to import tables from a database schema to an offline schema. See Using Import with Filters.

To drag tables onto a database diagram:

  1. Create a new database diagram, or open an existing one. See Creating a New Diagram or Opening an Existing Diagram.
  2. Choose View | Connection Navigator .
  3. Expand Database and select a database connection. For information about creating a database connection, see Configuring Database Connections.
  4. In the connection, expand the schema and expand Tables.
  5. Select the table you want to model, and drag it onto the database diagram. This opens the Create From Tables dialog.
  6. Ensure that Offline Tables is selected, and click OK. The table definition is now displayed on the diagram.

You can drag more than one table onto a database diagram, by holding down the Ctrl key as you select them.

Note: If you have already imported the tables to an offline schema, that is the table definitions are already present in the Application Navigator or System Navigator, the table is created with a unique name.
