Testing Oracle ADF Business Components

Because Oracle ADF Business Components provides only a model, not a user interface, it is not possible to run business components without a user interface. JDeveloper includes the Oracle Business Component Browser, a user interface that you can use to test your business components. The browser is a thin Java client that allows you to test the functionality of your business components. For more information, see About Testing Business Components Within JDeveloper.

You can use the Business Component Browser in two ways:

To test an application module definition, do one of the following:

If you need assistance with the Business Component Browser, click Help at any time.

To test a Oracle ADF Business Components package:

  1. Create an application module.

You must test from some application module. However, the contents and location of the application module are unimportant. You can create an empty application module, or an application module in a different project.

  2. In the System or Application Navigator, right-click the application module definition and choose T est to open the Business Component Browser Connect dialog.
  3. In the Application Type panel of the dialog, select Package, and enter the name of the package in the Name field. If you need further assistance with the dialog, click Help.

If you need assistance with the Business Component Browser, click Help at any time.
