Designing the Oracle Secure Enterprise Search Crawler Plug-In

In this sub-module, you learn how to design a crawler plug-in.

Creation of a crawler plug-in involves design, development, and deployment. These three phases apply to any crawler plug-in. This forms the crux of this tutorial.

We would like to introduce you to Bill, who works for the HR Department of Mobius Content Management company headed by Andrew. He is currently the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) Manager. Bill is one of the major users of Oracle Secure Enterprise Search. Andrew introduces Bill to Timothy. Bill approaches Timothy with a request to enable the searching his HR application called "Genie". Genie is an application for all HR activities that includes different modules such as Employee Information, Recruitment, Payroll, Appraisal, Leave Management, Performance Management and so on. Bill wants to use SES to search all the HR information that he needs.

You will watch the interaction between Bill and Timothy, and how Timothy designs the Genie crawler plug-in for Bill. In the next sections, Timothy develops and also deploys the Genie crawler plug-in.
