Reference Data Model

The Reference Data Model contains the entities (things, people, and so on) in a retail organization. These entities translate into dimensions in the analytic workspace. Reference entities are used in the SELECT clauses of materialized view creation.

The reference entities covered in the Reference Data Model can be considered common, but the ways in which they are covered are uncommon:

  • Customer: ORDM considers household demographics, prospects, suspects, loyalty programs, and customer affiliations.
  • Employees: ORDM considers the multiple schedules, roles, and tasks they perform.
  • Items & SKU: ORDM considers GTINS, SKUs, PLUs, Kits, Size, Flavor, Scent, and many other flexible criteria often found in retail settings.
  • Organization: ORDM considers market areas, trading areas, and channels, including brick and mortar, ecommerce, direct, and kiosk.
  • Time: ORDM considers quarter hour, hours, day, week, month, half-month, quarter, period, half-year, and year.
  • Calendar: ORDM considers 4-5-4, 4-4-5, fiscal year, calendar year, business year, thirteen 4-week periods and the variations thereof.
