Style sheets allow authors to create consistent styling for web pages.
Steps:
Click the File menu.
Step 1Point to the New menu.
Step 2Click the Style Sheet button.
Step 3We can add styles to the style sheet and create variations based on output type or language. We will also see a preview of each item.
Step 4First, we'll add a style for Heading 1.
Click the Item menu.
Step 5Click the Heading 1 button.
Step 6Since this is our only style for Heading 1, it will be the default Heading 1 style. If we were to create another style for Heading 1, we would be able to choose
between them and that means we should give our style a descriptive name.
Step 7Enter the desired information into the Style name field. Enter
Now we can edit the style.
Click in the Sample Text field.
Step 9We'll change the color to red.
Click the Item button.
Step 10Click the red list item.
Step 11Click the Ok button.
Step 12Next, we'll add a table.
Click the New Style menu.
Step 13Click the Table button.
Step 14Enter the desired information into the Style name field. Enter
We'll make a couple style changes to the whole table.
Click in the Apply to: field.
Step 16Click the Whole Table list item.
Step 17We'll change the font families and size.
Click the Font button.
Step 18Click the Trebuchet MS, Helvetica, sans-serif list item.
Step 19Click the Font Size button.
Step 20Click the 14 list item.
Step 21We'll then change the color of the table header background.
Click the Apply to: button.
Step 22Click the Header list item.
Step 23Click the Item button.
Step 24Click the Blue-green list item.
Step 25Click the Ok button.
Step 26Lastly, we'll make all of the cells italics for no good reason.
Click the Apply to: button.
Step 27Click the Cell list item.
Step 28Click the Italics button.
Step 29Click the Save button.
Step 30Choose the library location where you would like your style sheet document to live and give your style sheet a name.
Double-click in the Name: field.
Step 31Enter the desired information into the Name: field. Enter
Click the Save button.
Step 33And now we will open a web page to see how a style sheet is used to apply its styles to the web page content.
Click the Intro - Hotel Romeo tab.
Step 34Press [F4].
Step 35Click in the Style Sheet field.
Step 36By default, UPK associates a style sheet named Standard to web pages. The Standard style sheet is a good example of some styles that can be created with the style sheet editor.
Click the Browse button.
Step 37Navigate to the location where you saved your style sheet.
Click the Open button.
Step 38Click the Project Hotel Romeo cell.
Step 39Click the Open button.
Step 40Notice the immediate change this has on the table as the default table style is applied. Next we'll identify a Header 1 element so we can see that style applied to our content.
Step 41Select the desired text.
Step 42Click the Format button.
Step 43Click the Heading 1 list item.
Step 44The text we marked as Header 1 now uses the default Header 1 style.
Step 45This is just the beginning of what style sheets offer, but you can see how style sheets will provide a great deal of value, consistency and time savings for any content authoring team.
