Some thoughts on expanding ApplicationConfig:

List<Object> getResourceSingletons();
List<Object> getProviderSingletons();

This would allow the user to preconfigure provider and resource instances.

For @Context annotation fields in either of these singletons, a proxy
could be injected.

This sort of thing would allow us to ditch things like ContextResolver,
which IMO, only exist to hack in configuration.
