Hi all,
after some quiet weeks I'd like to take time to share and review some
recent progress update on the JSR.
On September 19th, JSR 367 passed Early Draft milestone [1]. The
feedback received (thank you for that) has been either incorporated
directly to the current spec source already or will be incorporated
shortly. For unclear areas, issues are filed and the topics are going to
be clarified in Jira or brought up to this EG list together with items
that did not make it to the EDR.
Thanks again to everybody who helped make the JSON Binding EDR happen,
it is much appreciated!
Currently we are on the way to Public Review milestone. Depending on
timing and progress we may find window to publish one more round of
Early Draft, so please stay tuned.
Going towards future milestones, there are 2 updates to the EG:
- IBM representative replacement from Rick Curtis to Nathan Rauh
- Dmitry Kornilov (Oracle), EclipseLink MOXy lead's nomination to EG,
proposed by me
I'm going to vote Yes on these by Friday Oct 9th given there are no
objections. Getting through the JCP process may take some additional
time for them.
Post EDR, work on Reference Implementation at EclipseLink project has
started as well, driven by Dmitry Kornilov, see [2]. Initial commit is
in, one more commit finalizing initial default serialization
functionality is awaiting CQ for a minor code library to be approved [3]
and will be pushed right after the approval is obtained.
Last but not least, with JavaOne SF approaching, I'd like to also
point out Dmitry's talk on JSON Binding itself and the progress, see [4]
for more details. If your plans include JavaOne this year, make sure you
don't miss this chance to meet!
