In maven1, I used maven-javanet-plugin to deploy the site image to
java.net. All you need to do is to essentially copy over the generated
files and add them into CVS, so doing it once or twice manually isn't
too painful, hopefully.

AFAIK, there's no such thing :-) just write an HTML like you normally
do. After all, it's your plugin.
