The new EA release of JAXB 2.0 has been evaluated in
the BindMark project [1]. The complete results are
available, as always at [2].

The marshalling performance has improved
substantially: 69% faster on startup and 51% faster on
consecutive runs. The memory footprint has increased
by 10% on startup, but decreased by 64% on consecutive
runs.

The unmarshalling stayed almost the same - 21% slower
on startup and 9% slower on consecutive runs. Memory -
8% more on startup and 1.5% less on consecutive runs.

It should be noted that the main weak point of JAXB
2.0 RI remains the JAXBContext class. Its
initialization requires 6MB of memory (81.000+
objects).

Kirill
