I'm sorry. We did file a bug for it, but for a reason beyond me, it
wasn't processed by the responsible team. I increased the priority to
get an attention.
And I'm afraid it's too late to change what's already shipped.
Meanwhile, for Web Start, I think you might be able to use HTTP-level
compression to achieve the same effect of compressed jars.
