Well, I think you should seriously think about taking the image/binary
outside of the xml. Specifically, using some type of attachment (to the XML/soap whatever);
if possible.

Otherwise, there is a way to do base64 encode/decode using something in one
of the javax mail packages I think; sorry don't have time to find it.
