Somehow, so far the stream of answers is very low-volume...

Besides the better local networking of JSF'ers the main advantage
I see is voicing the concerns of "real users" towards the
Expert Group gains additional weight, if these ideas are already
discussed in a user-group.

I still have hope...

I wish I could be there. I think establishing a JSF user group is a
great idea. I would love to see something like that take off in the
New England area.
