So I could something in the lines of:
FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
FacesMessage msg = new FacesMessage();
msg.setSeverity(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_INFO);
msg.setSummary("Log out successful.");
context.addMessage("form:msgBox", msg);
