My main concern was that the old spec wording contained slightly too
many implementation details (like the windowId url parameter name).
I think it's beneficial to have the whole windowId mechanism pluggable
and keep the spec clean of implementation details. Of course only if it
is possible without breaking our arms (and the server performance).
