News Update:
- Over the past few weeks, Pete Muir (JBoss), Ken Finnigan (JBoss), Mike Freedman (Oracle), and I (Liferay) have discussed CDI and Portlets extensively via email.
- Weld 1.x (CDI 1.0) has some casts to HttpServletRequest and some Servlet API assumptions. Currently at version 1.1.10.Final
- Weld 2.x (CDI 1.1) is under development. Currently at version 2.0.0.Alpha3.
- Pete indicated that wording in the forthcoming CDI 1.1 Spec can be adjusted to accommodate portlets. However, most of the compatibility issues would be addressed in an implementation-specific manner. I believe the current plans are to introduce portlet compatibility into Weld 2.x
